I'm my favorite. :D

I actually stole that from a guy I rode with yesterday. But I like it.

Too funny. Before I read your comments, I thought "me" just from the title. We're not vain, are we? :D

Hah! I started thinking of TE babes!

Aw, shucks, I'm not a babe... :p

J/K. Reading it, I was actually thinking "You know... I think today my favorite cyclist was the chick I passed on the way to work. She might've been on a hybrid, wearing baggy jeans and weight she'll eventually shed with this velo habit, but my god, she's out here biking." I don't generally root for the underdog, but you know, I think it's the people who bust their @ss every day..."

That sounds totally sappy, though... oh well.

My spouse, actually. He rides a 30 year old steel Raleigh International. He's totally unpretentious about cycling. He loves hill rides and invented a 54-mile Seattle Waterworks tour as a means of climbing to all the highest points (water towers) in a very hilly city. He did Tour de Blast on that Raleigh two years ago (80-some miles from a town off I-5 up to Johnston Ridge at Mt. St. Helens, and back--7000+ elevation gain), and MAY get a new bike someday but only after doing RAMROD (Ride Around Mt. Rainier in One Day) on the Raleigh first. He's small and wiry and thus climbs well, and is the least show-offy person in the world--just quietly does his thing. He's ever helpful and generous with his time and bike help. He loves riding the tandem with me when not doing hideous hill rides. He's cool.

Liked your post, Kit.

Wow. how wonderful that you can write that about your spouse. To be able to share a passion like cycling is so lucky. I love my DH, but he won't ride more than 10 minutes with the kids.

A lady I met on the London - Brighton ride in 1982. It was outside a pub having a break and I looked at her bike and said "Wow what a great granny gear" (or similar) . She said "It's a negative gear. It has a 32 on the chainwheel and a 36 on the rear. My husband did it specially so I could ride up anything"
So equally to her and the DH. Is that *love* or what?

SadieKate is my favorite cyclist, and Denise G.--that independent soul who ventures off on biking adventures by herself--is a close runner up (she's an inspiration to me). And V, I believe that Thom is probably yours, truth be told.

I think Denise is pretty high on the list too, but i go right to my DH who not only got himself on the road to fitness, but got both of my sons on a double century before they were in highschool and then finally got me involved too. (I was a lot more stubborn and set in my ways then the kids were)

(and then there's the cute guy who was my captain yesterday :D :D :D :D )

and Floyd! I like Floyd too.

Actually, my DH and myself. My husband is a "monster". He rides fast even if cannot do it anymore. He always works on improving himself and tries new things. The other day he tried going up our regular hill spinning with only one leg. But the best part about him - he got so many people into riding and although he is much better now, he still loves to ride with our friends, work with them and help them in thier improvement. I like my riding because I can still beat most of his friends uphill even being prego! :p

yes!!

this month's Cycle Sport's "Clean" issue has a great feature on her - best coverage of a woman in that magazine that I can recall.

I also love Levi - and Dave Z (because he's so WEIRD - in a good way!).

Not myself (still sulking about my Staurday race :p )

My favourite? Has to be my partner - he's my coach, my role model, my training partner, my biggest fan...

The one who I aspire to be? Sarah Ulmer... a completely unrealistic goal, but I can dream, huh? She is AWESOME.

The one who has inspired me the most? Who else but Lance?

No question: George Hincapie.

I like 'em loyal, humble, and unassuming.

My son is my favourite cyclist. He's always ready to go out, whatever the weather. He's unfazed by the fact that nearly all his friends have their stabilisers off yet is willing to try without when i help him but is completely happy to go at his own pace.
He always wants to race and will try to ride up hills that even i have to drop to 1st gear on and he's riding an ickle 12inch wheeled childs bike!

4 year old andrew is my favourite cyclist and always will be!

Oh, yes, I have to agree...the Z-man...could he be any funnier?? Gotta love him...sounds like he is perpetualy on "happy-but-mellow" pills and yet he rides like the devil. He rocks!

(Apparently, great Sarahs think alike!!) :)

The fresh worldchampion Marianne Vos (http://www.mariannevos.nl) for being to good at a so young age and Marion Bax (http://www.marionbax.nl/) for being so good at the age of 50. Wow, and then to think I want to ride against those girls next year. I seriously need to do some more training in the preseason.

JENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta love a guy who will bury himself for his team leader, will struggle to win a race he should have lost, and rolls up to a start line on a bright green faux chopper bike!

On a human level, this week it is me. I rode my first, and last cross, race this weekend. I came in dead last. Was lapped by the men, twice I think, and some of the women. But I had the most fun EVER! I even got a shout out from the announcer when I finished, cause I was so excited that I actually finished. I threw my hand up in the air like I had won! Next week it will be someone else.

I love what you wrote, in fact I got all tearful! :o

My grandson (Calum), is also 4 years old, he still has stabilisers on, so what, we all gotta start somewhere.

To me my little grandson is my favourite cyclist, he is one cool little dude.

You sound one of the best Mum's!

Why is it your last cross race? If you had fun, you should keep doing it.

My question exactly - having fun is the most important part of racing!

One of the women in our club is 64. I aspire to be doing what she is doing when I am her age - racing her first road and 'cross seasons this year. She has typically been finishing last or near the back of the pack, but SHE DOESN'T CARE!

Just this past Sunday at a 'cross race, she asked me if I was having as much fun as she was... She finished last on Saturday, and was covered in mud, and finished second to last on Sunday after falling in the mud more than once as well. She is an inspiration!

I think this week, she is my favorite cyclist.

Have FUN!

Levi Leipheimer. He seems like a really nice guy and he and his wife support an animal shelter. Not to cause controversy, but I'm also big fan of Floyd Landis. Until he's proven guilty, I think he's an amazing cyclist and a very humble guy. In real life, DH is my favourite cyclist. He's the one who got me started in the 1st place.
