Since there seems to be severeal threads going on this already ( http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=8387&highlight=tucson
and http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?p=127207&posted=1#post127207
)
I'd thought I'd start another one!
I'm planning on doing this ride. (109 mile option) Providing I can come back from spending 6 weeks off the bike from my last pack riding experience (fractured Humerus).
I'm planning on startinng in sliver(my sources tell me that I would have less problems with other rides), although I should be able finish in Gold.
Who else wants to fess up?

DH and i are already registered for el tour as well as the tour de scottsdale (oct 15). we plan to do the tour de farm too, and i think there's a century also the week before el tour. just trying to get everything in after waiting forever for the summer to end and the season to begin!!! we're registered for the 80 miler in el tour but i heard it was no problem to change that, we might want to do the 100-whatever. i usually finish gold, but i never get up early enough to line up in front!! so i end up scratching and clawing my way up til i can tag onto the back of a group i can hang with. its our first el tour but we've twice done scottsdale, phoenix, tucson mountains, casa grande century, laveen and the senior olympics. i just dont know about the climbing!! but scottsdale had some climbs too......
anyway, as el tour gets closer, we want to try to hook up with anybody TE who's going!!!

I have ridden El Tour a few times and on a tandem with DH. There are no major steep climbs IMO, but some longer gradual climbs with some hills. I know everyones definition of a "climb" would vary, but I hope that helps a bit:o . Most of the time it is pretty chilly in the morning, but warms up quickly. My dress has been booties, gloves, thermal undershirt, arm warmers, headband for ears and vest. Good luck to all!
