I live here in AZ, but I might be going to a conference in San Jose (last week in April). Any rides/ races going on? I'm a roadie.

I was going to tell you to check cyclecalifornia.com, but I see their web site isn't up-to-date. Here's another list of area rides at http://www.bikecal.com/asp/century-result.asp though. Also a few more rides not listed:
Top Hat (on 4/24) (http://www.nmss.org/can/event/event_detail.asp?e=6715)
Mt Hamilton Challenge (4/24) (http://hillsidegraphics.com/hamilton-challenge/)
Grizzly Peak (on 5/2) (http://www.grizzlypeakcyclists.org/century/)

Top Hat, Grizzly, Wine Country and Delta are all great rides, and usually have good weather, great scenery and lot's of food. I'll be doing Top Hat, and either Grizzly or Delta.

How could I forget DMD? Actually, I thought it was on the bikecal.com list, so I didn't add it. But it does deserve special mention. I hear you and Thom are volunteering. I was going to until I realized, duh, Top Hat is the same day. Will Thom be the official ride photographer this year? I can put a bug in Jesse's ear -- I think having ride photos is a great idea.

I felt so #@&%$# miserable on Diablo last Saturday, I don't even want to think what I looked like. Fortunately today was much, much better. You guys should have been there, Diablo on the first day of spring -- what could be better?

We did Mines Road to the Junction in Livermore today. That's how far I'm hoping to get on the staff ride for DMD. That first climb is a bear though. I'm not sure how my legs will feel with 91 miles and 9,000 feet of climb already on them. If only I could skip Patterson Pass...

Thom would love to be the official photographer for DMD. We had been planning on doing some unofficial photos like we did last year and then going to our assigned spot, but doing the event photography would be cool.

Veronica

PS You really do look good in the photo. I'll get Thom to e mail it to you soon.
