He's fat and well-cared for. I'm sure the owner will show up. I just hope it's today!

Take him to a local vet, shelter, or rescue organization and ask them to look for a chip. They'll do it for free and may be able to look up his owner on the spot.
More and more people are chipping their dogs.

+1. Also, if it smells like someone's grandma, it might be that it actually does belong to someone's grandma. I doubt she'd be looking on a community website. Perhaps some actual posters put up around the neighbourhood would be useful. He can't have wandered too far.

Notify your nearest Humane Society , animal shelter, AND your local animal control person. These places are where folks call and leave a number when they've lost a pet.

The rightful owner has been found! Sammy is the dog's name and he's quite the escape artist, apparently. His owner is not a Grandma, but a nice young woman who works in a dog grooming shop. She was worried sick over him all day, until a neighbor saw the posting on the website and called her, and then called me.

I did leave my name with Animal Control, I posted flyers in the neighborhood, and I let all the dog people and dog trainers that I know that I had found the dog. I called the local vet for a microchip scan, but they are closed on Wednesday afternoons. Turns out this dog is not yet microchipped anyways.

It all worked out. Enough dogs! I'm too busy for these distractions at the moment!

Great news!
Groomer, huh? No wonder the pouch smelled like grandma!

This is Ollie. We adopted him in May (from a private party) and he's two years old...which in Lab Mix (or whatever he is)...means still a puppy! I can't believe how much energy he has and how much he loves running. It makes me sad to think of how little exercise he got before.

I take him out on the beach cruiser every morning and he runs 5-7 miles before I go to work.

Ollie is a great-looking dog! He's lucky you found him. And those kitties look mighty comfy on that sofa. I've had so many cats growing up, but very few orange ones. The few I had were all named Orange Cat. I think there were three.

I'm calling this my $200 photo. Murphy (who's ~10 years old) treed a squirrel. The squirrel kept falling or jumping out of trees and the dogs were right on it's tail. Eventually Murphy skewered his eye with a twig - $200 vet bills and we aren't finished yet. Neat photo though

Oh poor Murph! He's one of my favorite dogs here.
I hope you heal well, Murphy

Brandy, I'm loving that pic of your dog going cross-eyed! Hilarious!

Nscrbug, at first I thought that was a giant two-headed cat. You can barely tell where one starts and the other ends
