I'd broken a shifter cable at the end of our ride Wednesday and though I got a new cable it hasn't yet been installed on my road ride "Lucille Bike" so I took my cross bike "Ethel". Five miles into the ride in a 15 mph headwind, I was thinking that maybe I should have stayed home, but it wasn't too long before I'd gotten over the shock of an extra 10 pounds, the rolling resistance of my knobbies, and my upright position (from the straight bars) catching the wind. Had a great time. My legs are tired but happy. Just goes to show how addicted I am.

But here's what I want to yell to some cyclists: TAKE THE LANE!!!

I thought of this tonight as I was driving home from work. The road was two lanes in each direction with no shoulders. I saw a guy riding in the right lane, hugging the edge of the road for all he was worth. I watched a car pass him by moving into the left lane. But how many others stayed in the right lane and came within inches of him because they thought they had enough room?

He could have used a bigger red blinky light, too.

I am allergic to eggs, which makes many baking projects (as well as other things) almost undo able. I have a recipe for bran muffins I would like to make but it calls for eggs and buttermilk (which I am also allergic to). I have read where many of you substitute soaked flax seed for the binding properties of eggs. How do you know how to convert? One egg equals xxx flax seed. I would appreciate any help on this. And yes I will post the recipe.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, at least he wiped down the entire fridge innards afterwards.

I forgive him..but my style is to wipe down all the crap with clean rage/paper towels, etc. Not wield a vaccum cleaner that's used for other parts of home. We started to argue but I gave up.
He is a cleaning oriented person after all.

I can at least contribute this, which was put together by the Washington DC Department of Transportation and Bike Arlington, which is the initiative to promote cycling sponsored by Arlington County, Virginia.
I could wear knee warmers or leg warmers with my tri shorts or tights over my tri shorts. I really wish someone manufactured tri capris and tights with a minimal chamois, 'cause I'm a princess and I don't like the extra grippers or waistbands. But who would want to swim in something that long? :D
